Review of In the Woods by Tana French
In the Woods by Tana French
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
In the short time that I've been active here on goodreads I have come to trust a few reviewers and look to add to my to-read list when they recommend a good book. Emily May is one such reviewer. If I come across a book on my own - which I do from time to time :) - I look to see if she has read it and what her impression was. So when I came across In the Woods and read Emily May's review, I knew I had to put it on my list.
I'm not even going to attempt a full review when Emily's and Nataliya's review are far better than I can hope to write. I will tell you how I felt and still feel a week later.
To say that I was sad when I finished is an understatement. I felt such a deep sorrow that I couldn't even muster up any tears. Trust me, I love a book that can rattle my emotions and have been known to read through tears, but I was so stunned and felt so bad that nothing came out. I think about the thousand opportunities to right the ship that were wasted. I think about the sincere "I'm sorry"(s) that were never said. Much of the pain could have been avoided but we humans got in our own way. Such is life.
I had no problem with the realistic ending.
If you're a fan of mystery/suspense/thriller, read this.
